We are often asked how Scholar Base differs from other child enrichment centres or language centres.
First of all, we are not a tuition centre, not a traditional language centre. We develop our own curriculum and use our own books to help children, ages 4 and above to develop aspects of learning using the English language.
There are shortcomings in the current educational system which emphasise examinations and rote learning. We design our programmes to help children develop interactive and creative learning (and not just English literacy) in a holistic manner.
Not examination oriented, we use positive reinforcement in all our classes. Children are guided to develop to read and write from as young as 4.
They are also encouraged to grow in 6 other critical skills as outlined in the presentation below.
The development of these skills will result in young adults with positive self-image who can present their independent thoughts confidently in the real world.
Learning is fun and conducted in interactive manners. The teachers (whom we call mentors) are experienced educators who love working with children.
The learning culminates in the year-end programme every year but throughout the year, we have story-telling, role-playing, reading and writing activities that they children enjoy.
We also organize outdoor activities and excursions where our ‘uncles’ will chauffeur the children to these outdoor venues.
