What does Scholar Base do?

We provide effective learning system which nurtures and guides the child to his best potential. We develop literacy skills such as reading, writing, public speaking, thinking and communication.

What’s difference between Scholar Base and Scholar Base Academy?

Scholar Base is the registered school name, and Scholar Base Academy is referred as the homeschool section that offers Cambridge curriculum.

How many teachers are there at Scholar Base?

At the year 2020, there are 15 teachers conducting the homeschool classes.

Where are the Co-curricular activities held?

The venues can be held at Scholar Base or outside centre.

What are the life-skills a child can develop at Scholar Base?

They will develop these life-skills which include problem solving, critical thinking, communication skills, creative thinking, interpersonal relationship skills, empathy and digital etiquette.

What are the exams or tests during the primary years?

There are 2 exams which are held at end of  the Term 1 and Term 2. There is a Parents-Teachers meeting at the end of every term to discuss about the progress on the homeschool students.

Do you need certificates from primary schools to enrol at the homeschools or international schools?

Every child has to sit for an entrance examination or assessment test upon application to Scholar Base. The assessment test is to ascertain the English proficiency and the mathematics ability for placement. There is a need to give a birth certificate upon enrolment. 

What is the school time schedule?

School hour is 8am to 2pm.

Is there any transport available?

Yes, we have school vans to fetch and send our students. Our drivers have worked with us for more than 10 years. The transport fee is charged separately.

Do you offer student or guardian visa?

No, we don’t offer student or guardian visa.

Do you accept a child who cannot understand English?

Yes, we believe your child’s English will improve by leaps and bounds in our English environment.

Is Scholar Base an inclusive school?

No, we only accept children whom we believe can progress in our education framework and environment.

What is the difference between homeschool at SBA compared with other homeschools?

SBA Homeschool stands out with its Scholar Base English Programme, a supportive teacher-parent community, engaging learning methods, experiential field trips, and life skills training like money management and entrepreneurship.

What are the age range of your students?

They are from 4 years old (preschool) to 17 years old (IGCSE).

What are your teachers’ qualifications?

They are university graduates with Bachelor or Master degrees in their separate expertise area.

When does the term start?

There are 2 terms in a year. Term 1 : January to June and Term 2: July to November. However, students may join us at anytime of the year.

Where are the science labs?

The Science experiments are conducted in the classes at homeschool. But for more complex ones. It will be conducted in the science laboratories of other schools.

Do you have an education license?

Scholar Base has a business license as a child learning centre (Pusat perkembangan kanak-kanak) as distinct from education license approved by MOE. SBA is an extension of Scholar Base which provides lessons based on British Curriculum.

Where and how often are the Physical Education lessons conducted?

PE is held once a week, and it will be held indoor or outdoor at public courts or rented courts. A professional coach conducts PE class. All homeschool students go for a professional Badminton training once a week.

What are the subjects offered?

Primary and K3 Subjects:

  • Languages: English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin
  • Science, Maths, History, Geography
  • PE, Online Maths, Arts, ICT (coding)

IGCSE Subjects:

  • Languages: English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin
  • Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths
  • Humanities: History, Geography
  • Others: Accounting, Business Studies, ICT
How is lunch provided at school?

Food may be ordered and delivered to the homeschool, Kepong at request of the parents. 

Do you offer day care after school?

Yes, we do at separate charge.

Can my child come for a short-term period?

Yes, he may come for at least one month.
